Service Worship!
Post your serving experience here!
Over 350 volunteers were mobilized on November 1. If you were part of the team that served: St. Jude, Lake Area Regional Recovery of Indiana (LARRI – Those recovering from the floods!), Hearts in Motion, etc. Resale Shop, Dyer Nursing Home, and families in need in our community then tell us how it went.

Just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know my perspective of Sunday’s service.
I walked into the building and could feel the electricity of the people. We were ready and available and excited. What an anointed idea! I went to Hearts in Motion and along with me were many, many people who worked for several hours. Karen was a very excited leader who couldn’t believe how much we accomplished. I watched families sorting out food, hygiene supplies, medical supplies, etc. all to aid this ministry. It was truly rewarding.
Thank you for continuing to have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to CCC.
Love Jan
“What a cool experience! It was great to work along side our fellow worshipers (even the ones from different services
I hope we do this again sometime. Does anyone know where my roller is? Just kidding.”

Went to the nursing home at 9am. Loved getting those who wanted to attend to play Bingo. Met some lovely ladies and saw some sad people too. My granddaughter Savannah, really enjoyed it. I feel it was great for all who attended. It would be good to go again. – Darlene Mazrimas
Today went well. The nursing home was fun. And the residents were happy to see us. I acted as a ‘floater’ til Rosemary asked me to assist her w/ 2 ladies both wheelchair bound & 1 w/Parkinson’s. Rosemary had her hands full. I ‘helped’ one of them. And by chatting & handing her the markers, we found she was in less of a vegetative state than 1st thought.. Did enjoy it. – Suzi Van Liew
Washed walls and painted trim at St. Jude House. Hope we will do it again sometime. – Kathy Sorenson
H.I.M. (Hearts in Motion) It was awesome!- Josh Sorenson
What a great time we had at the Dyer Nursing Home! We sang songs and then spent time talking and getting to know some of the residents. Many of them sang along with us and loved the hyms! We met people with wonderful names like Ruby, Eloise, Lola, Ella, Jim, Oscar and many more! My daughter Valerie was so touched by the love and appreciation you could feel in the room. When Jeff and Rick began to play, you could see their eyes light up with excitement! It was a morning I will never forget! Maybe we could go back for some Christmas Carols? I know they would love it!
I think you should try this every month

I’d just like to give two BEIGE thumbs up – or was it YELLOW? – to the painting crew who transformed the walls of St. Jude House!! Way to go. Who ever thought a paint roller could make a difference in a person’s life – but it does!
Thanks for being the hands of Jesus last Sunday – even if covered with paint?! Forget to let you all know I am color-blind! It all looks gray to me!

Painting at St.Jude house was a blast. It was a great experience and I got to know some new people. I’m still trying to tell between beige & yellow. Am I suppose to be trimming or rolling? Is this yellow or beige? Is this painted? Where’s the ladder?
Hopefully, we’ll be able to start to engage in some ministry there in the future. Sharon Malik
Worked with LARRI on Sunday at a home in Valparaiso. The home was destroyed by sewage and rising waters. The whole main floor of the house was gutted. We started by completely removing the old sub-floor and re-bracing the old stud walls. Next we insulated the floor above the crawl space and began to sheet the floor with plywood.
All in all it was hard work. We didn’t know how long we would be there. But we stayed until 2 pm. It felt great to give of our God-given gifts to help others.

I went to St. Jude House and had a wonderful time painting a resident bedroom. It was truly eye-opening to see a toddler bed in the room and to think of raising a child in that situation. It reminds me of how truly blessed I am!!! Thank you for this oportunity to be “Jesus with skin” to some people!
A few short hours and a relatively simple task, can leave a big impression. Our family went to Hearts in Motion and organized photo CDs. Our five year old was quiet while we were there but soaked it all in. When we were leaving, he commented, “I really liked the praise music that they were playing.” (I had barely noticed the music). Later in the week, he was telling a story and said, “that reminds me of when we were helping people at Hearts in Motion.” I loved the hands-on opportunity to teach my boys about service and working together as a church.
This is awesome! We plan to move to your area in the spring, and we plan to check out CCC. Keep doing what you’re doing to lead people in their next step toward God!
PS Imagine if you could get get 2 or 5 or 10 (or more) other congregations in the area to do this together, on the same day! Imagine the effect of the larger body of Christ in the area serving together – how making the unity and love of Christians (across the normal church/denominational lines) visible would glorify God and draw people to Him! It would make it difficult for people to deny the power and love and grace of God! (Something to think about and dream about?)
