Other prayer concerns are deeper and more personal.  Prayers for sick Grandmothers, prayers for a friend who’s parents are getting divorced, or prayers for dad who is out of work.

I am often thrilled to read the request of students whose request is related to the message I taught that evening.  It is very rewarding to see that they have processed the talk and are ready to ask for God’s help in applying what they have learned.

Each week we receive the cards and pray for that student’s needs and concerns.  However, there are times when we feel called to respond to the prayer cards with more than a prayer.  Sometimes we feel called to minister to our student’s needs with both prayer and action (not that prayer isn’t action… it is!).

One such ministry is Divorce Care for Teens which will begin it’s second season on Tuesday, January 19th.  DC4T meets weekly and is lead by Tiffany Nottingham, Cyndi Schoon and Norm Vugteveen.  There is NO CHARGE for participating in DC4T.  Weekly meetings are on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.  For more information or to register contact Tiffany Nottingham at 219-322-6400 ext. 303.

We have around 100 folks participating in some form of sermon based small group!  You can still get on board.  Even if you are not able to join a group I hope you’ll take the study guides from the website and use them in your personal devotions or family devotions.  Let’s get all  that God has for us from Leviticus! Brickhouse Winter Retreats (WinterXtreme) Our Jr Highers will be heading to timber-lee (East Troy, WI) for a fun winter retreat on January 22-24 and our Sr Highers will go on February 12 – 14.  Our jr high retreat is completely booked.  We are hoping to get more spots if they become available.  If your jr higher would like to attend, please let us know and we will put them on a waiting list. Sr highers shouldn’t wait to sign up!  We only have 10 spots left! Women’s Bible Study is beginning a new study called Discerning the Voice of God: How to Recognize When God Speaks by Pricilla Shirer on Tuesday, January 12 at 9:15 am. It has been great to hear stories of “Christmas Caring” the past few weeks around the office: Unchurched friends and neighbors who have come to our services; tangible expressions of God’s love through giving of food, gifts and visits to those in need; and encouraging calls or cards to those who need a lift.  I hope and pray God puts you in a place where you can observe and participate in the giving and receiving of His love this Christmas!
