Being Human Part 6
Relationship (Relational, Communal)
Mark 10:29-31; Gen. 2:18-25; Acts 2:42-47
Right from the beginning, we have been made for relationships—all sorts of relationships! God created a companion for Adam—someone like him but different—in order to together fulfill God’s purposes for the world. God gives Adam naming rights, not only as an expression of entrusted rule, but also in order that we can relate. And of course, as we see God walking in the cool of the garden, we get a glimpse that God’s intention was also that we would relate to him. Yet, just as our relationship with God was (and is) damaged by sin, our relationships with others (be that family members, friends, or colleagues) are also tainted. We experience that on a personal level, but we also witness the effect at scale. It’s tragic that while our culture experiences an epidemic of loneliness, we’ve never been more enabled to avoid people and go about our lives in a detached way (e.g., consider how hard it is in the supermarket to find a checkout staff

Help Us Get Ready for Tropical Trek VBS!
We're getting ready for an incredible week at Tropical Trek VBS 2026, and we'd love your help! We are currently collecting donations for supplies that will help make this year's VBS a fun, engaging, and unforgettable experience for our kids. Stop by the display in the atrium, grab a tag (or two!), shop for the listed items, and return your donation along with the tag by June 14. Donations can be turned in beginning May 24 at the Connection Point counter in the atrium. Every donation helps create an amazing environment where kids can learn about Jesus, build friendships, and make lasting memories. Thank you for helping us make VBS possible!
Church Council Nominations: We will be receiving nominations for elders and deacons through May 17. Please clearly indicate whether your nomination is for an elder or a deacon. The character qualifications for both roles are found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9. Elders serve as servant leaders, focusing on shepherding and caring for the congregation, as well as encouraging, instructing, and leading according to God’s Word. Deacons serve as leading servants, helping lead key ministry areas such as benevolence, facilities, finances, and other administrative needs. Nominations can be sent to Pastor Drew at [email protected]
In 2024, we asked "WHAT IF we paid off our mortgage?" Today we're living in that reality thanks to God's abundant blessing and your extraordinary generosity! Check out some of the ministry and stewardship that is happening as a result! https://www.aboutccc.com/whatif
We would love to celebrate our 2026 graduates! Parents (of high school & college graduates), please send a recent photo and a one-paragraph blurb to the church office at [email protected]. The paragraph should include where your student is graduating from and how they have spent the past 4 years and what their plans are for what’s next. Please submit your information as soon as possible so we can honor our graduates well!
Women’s Summer Bible Study: Join us this summer for a deep-dive into the life of Simon Peter and his letters. We’re beginning Tuesday morning, May 19th, from 9-11am upstairs. Come when you can. Taught by Jan Behrens & Peggy Kuzmar. Bring your Bible, a notebook and a friend!
